Bible Verses About Contentment

HAT98 – I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

BSA – I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

HAT98 – The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

BSA – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

HAT98 – and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

BSA – And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord .”’

HAT98 – Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he  not much more clothe  you, O ye of little faith?

BSA – Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

HAT98 – Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is  the evil thereof.

BSA – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

KJV – And he said unto me,  My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 

BSA – And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 

HAT98 – And God is  able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things , may abound to every good work: 

BSA – And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

HAT98 – Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  12) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 

BSA – Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12) I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

KJV – For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  8) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 

BSA – For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8) And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 

HAT98 – Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

BSA – Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble.

HAT98 – And he said unto them,  Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

BSA – And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

HAT98 – And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  23) The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.  24) Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?  25) And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?  26) If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?  27) Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  28) If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?  29) And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.  30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31) But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
